English: Grass-covered ancient cairn. The low green mound shown here is the site of an ancient cairn (at approx. NS 36634 78440) which is now overgrown. The end-note describes a group of three cairns nearby, and a single cairn to their west; that single cairn is the one shown in the present photo.

Care is needed to distinguish this site from a number of superficially similar, but less regular, mounds located nearby (at approx. NS 36621 78500 / NS 36638 78518 / NS 36580 78457); the latter are irregular masses of bedrock, covered over with vegetation, rather than the remains of cairns. Carman Hill is visible in the background. |
