Fotomicrografía de una <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/miguelveraleon/639544115/">granodiorita</a> en sección delgada, vista al microscopio en nícoles paralelos. Cristales de plagioclasa (blanco) sobre 2 cristales de anfíbol (tonos verdes). El verde algo más oscuro a la izquierda corresponde a un corte basal, lo cual se deduce por la presencia de sus 2 clivajes (en otros casos se deduce por su <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/miguelveraleon/664648615/">forma hexagonal</a>), mientras que el verde más claro en la derecha es un corte longitudinal, en el que el clivaje es paralelo al eje mayor del cristal. Microscopic view in plane-polarized light of a <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/miguelveraleon/639544115/">granodiorite</a> thin section. Plagioclase crystals (white) on amphibole crystals (green tones). The left green crystal is a cross section, which one can tell because of the 2 sets of cleavage present (in other cases they could have an <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/miguelveraleon/664648615/">hexagonal shape</a>), and the right, lighter green crystal is a longitudinal section, with its cleavage parallel to the long axis of the crystal. |
