Summary
[edit]DescriptionGranite Memorial to the Hanbury Explosion (geograph 6423713).jpg |
English: Granite Memorial to the Hanbury Explosion. This stone is located at the western lip of the site which is commonly known as the RAF Fauld Crater. It can be found by following the designated footpath above the crater and a similar stone commemorating the unconfirmed tally of 70 casualties has been erected at the National War Arboretum. On the day of the explosion my mother-law's grandfather Mr Charles Pegg of Hanbury was due to report for work here as a site security officer but he had earlier swapped shifts with a colleague which no doubt saved his life. |
