Description

Jan Mijtens THE HAGUE CIRCA 1614 - 1670 DAIFILO POURS GRANIDA A DRINK OF WATER oil on oak panel 74 x 60.4 cm.; 29 1/8 x 23 3/4 in.

Mijtens painted another version of this theme, today in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, datable to circa 1660. The putti here are found in reverse in a signed and dated painting of 1646 of Bacchus and Ariadne by Mijtens, now in the Hermitage, St. Petersburg.
