Summary
[edit]DescriptionGrandson of Royal Oak - geograph.org.uk - 1289812.jpg |
English: Grandson of Royal Oak. This tree was planted in the grounds of 1289537 as a sapling by the then Bishop of Lichfield in commemoration of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897 (see 1289827) so is itself well over 100 years old now. The plaque mistakenly suggests that the tree from which it was spawned was the original Royal Oak, whereas in fact it was already a well established specimen of the second generation by that time. See 1289763 for more details on its parent. |
