| Description |
English: Grand Union Canal approaching Kingswood, Warwickshire The canal was opened in 1799 as the Warwick and Birmingham Canal, and was one of eight canals which merged in 1929 to form the Grand Union Canal.
Here, seen from a few metres north-west of Weston Hall Bridge (No 64} the canal is only four hundred metres from the link to Kingswood Junction (with the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal. A lot of rain had fallen in the two days before, and this was about to continue to the extent that there was flooding nationwide, and a section of the Stourbridge Canal collapsed. |
