Description
English: Grand Salon of the Palace of Santos, showing the painted ceiling depicting mythological scenes. This ceiling, as well as the remaining decorations of the room (in Neoclassical style) were painted by the portuguese artist Pedro Alexandrino de Carvalho somewhere in the late 18th/early 19th century. The tapestry "Entry of Louis XIV into Dunkirk, December 2, 1662" is also visible. An 18th century French tapestry by Mathieu Monmerqué's workshop, manufacture of Gobelins, from the series "Story of the King". The palace houses the French Embassy in Lisbon, Portugal.
Português: Grand Salon do Palácio de Santos com o tecto pintado representando cenas mitológicas. Este tecto, assim como a restante decoração da sala (em estilo Neoclássico) foram pintados pelo pintor português Pedro Alexandrino de Carvalho no final do século XVIII/princípio do século XIX. A tapeçaria "Entrada de Luís XIV em Dunquerque a 2 de Dezembro de 1662" é visível na parede.Trata-se de uma tapeçaria francesa do século XVIII, produzida pela oficina de Mathieu Monmerqué, manufactura de Gobelins, da série "História do Rei". O palácio é ocupado pela Embaixada de França em Lisboa, Portugal.
