Description

Reverse of a 1904 postcard photograph by Hudson & Kearn, showing the lounge of The Grand Hotel, erected by the builder and developer David Simpson in 1903, in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. The building was designed by Whitehead and Smetham.

The hotel went into receivership in 1954, it was converted into offices, and the name was changed to Windsor House. The building was a convalescent home for officers in World War I. (Source for information: Malcolm Neesam (2018) Harrogate in 50 buildings).
Date (This is the postmark date. The photograph was probably taken in 1903 when the hotel was opened).
