| Description |
Hiking down to skeleton point on the South Kaibab Trail in September 2012. Photo by Michael Quinn Grand Canyon Active Trails activities promote a healthy lifestyle and community interaction through walking, hiking, and biking. Events include incentives to promote exercise at one’s own pace. A key incentive offered is a safe, educational, and supportive environment that extends beyond attended events. While aimed at the local community, members of the public are encouraged to attend. During 2012, Grand Canyon Active Trails sponsored a series of events through the end of October to encourage trail use in the park and promote physical exercise. A grant from the Grand Canyon Association enabled the team to purchase incentives to encourage participation in the events.
