Summary

[edit]
Description The Gothic Revival style is one of my favorite architectural styles, as it conveys a sense of grandeur and detail while breaking up the massing of the structure into several parts and allowing for ample light into the structure's interior. Charleston's best example of this style is the Grace Church Cathedral, located just below the College of Charleston campus on the Downtown peninsula. Harkening back to the city's French and English heritage, the church is very distinctive with its many spires and stepped-down massing. Today, it is one of the many historically significant church structures that help lend the moniker of "The Holy City" to Charleston, and make it a popular destination for tourists and young professionals alike.
