English: Detail of 1900 map of Goulburn showing from the original map: in brown the proposed Federal Capital Territory; and in grey-blue the proposed Capital site. Highlighted details contained on the original map are: (1) in yellow the boundaries of the parishes; (2) in green the site of Dr Andrew Gibson's property "Tirranna" that he was granted in 1828, and in green (shaded) lands that had been added to the original grant (marked on the map are only lands purchased from the givernment -additional lands were purchased from private vendors); (3) in mid-blue the site of William Pitt Faithfull's 1280 acre (518ha) property "Springfield" that he was granted in 1827, and in mid-blue (shaded) lands that had been added to the original grant (marked on the map are only lands purchased from the givernment -additional lands were purchased from private vendors); (4) in pink major roads (Sydney Road being the road at the top of the map, and Braidwood Road being the road travelling through both Dr Andrew Gibson’s “Tirranna” property and his brother-in-law William Pitt Faithfull's "Springfield" property); (5) in pale blue Shaw's or Boxer's Creek (so named on the map); and (6) in red blocks of land owned by Thomas Lansdown. For the two blocks of land owned by Thomas Lansdown the one to the left is 55 acres and was purchased in April 1856. The one to the right is 40 acres and was purchased in October 1876. |
