I read thus : hoc pater albricvs nobile fecitopvs. On a border round the circle is another inscriptionin two elegiac lines : + QVI TE DEVOTVS ORO CVI SERVIO TOTVS+ MARTYR SCE DEI QVESO MEMENTO MEI. About 1200 the north-west tower, which had till thena spire of wood, received one of stone. It is to be seenin old prints, and is illustrated by Viollet-le-Duc4, whotells us that it was his sad lot to have to take it down toprevent its falling. It was never rebuilt, and the onlytower at present is the sister one at the south-west angle Thetowers 1 MM. Vitry and Briere, LEglise Abbatiale de S.
