Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Gosford Street, Coventry Looking down Gosford Street from its junction with Cox Street. Within the group of buildings in the middle distance is what is considered to be the oldest example of a timber framed building in Coventry, estimated to date from the 14th century, renovated and opened as a public house (Whitefriars) in 2000. The white and green building is The Oak public house, known to have been licensed since at least 1823. To complete the set, the building near right is a third public house which has undergone many name changes recently, currently The Phoenix, but is better known by the name it held for many years - the Sir Colin Campbell. Beyond the ring road flyover are the towers of Coventry University's Lanchester library. Both the Whitefriars and Oak public houses are grade II listed buildings.
