English: Beefly on Stylidium obtusatum
The beefly had come in to have a drink of nectar and when it placed its proboscis into the nectar, a trigger was released, placing pollen on the face of the fly. It visits many flowers one after the other thus helping with pollination. Stylidium landing area is ~7mm Fly not much bigger. Photo: Fred Check out how triggerplants work: G'day from WA |
