Summary
[edit]DescriptionGonepteryx rhamni - geograph.org.uk - 208264.jpg |
English: Brimstone on a thistle, Parkhill Inclosure, New Forest. The brimstone has a small pointed tip on each wing, and always rests with its wings closed (making it look a bit like a leaf). The female brimstone has a yellowish- to greenish-white wing. With a lifespan of 10-11 months this is one of the longest-lived of British indigenous butterflies. [Information from H. Hofmann and T. Marktanner "Butterflies and Moths of Britain & Europe", Collins 1995] |
