Summary
[edit]DescriptionGond Tribal Art & Culture 02.jpg |
English: Gond tribal art, also referred to as Gond painting or Gond folk art, is rooted in the indigenous Gond tribes of central India. This distinctive art style is known for its vivid colors, detailed patterns, and representations of tribal life. The Gond tribe originated in Madhya Pradesh, taking its name from the term "Kond," which translates to "green mountain." Gond art has a history extending over 1400 years, with the Gonds creating paintings and carvings on cave walls dating back to the Mesolithic Period. Traditionally, Gond artists would decorate the floors and walls of their dwellings with motifs, tattoos, and imagery, using these paintings to document historical events and cultural teachings.
