The plants should be frequently sprayedwith water. For this purpose either a small sprinkling can or a floristsaspirator is best. Animals for Terraria. Almost any of the lower forms of smallland animals may be introduced. For the Dry terrarium, butterflies,beetles and other insects, land snails, slugs, hop toads, tree toads, hornedtoads, lizards, snakes and small tortoises ; and for the Moist terrariumaquatic insects, snails, tadpoles, frogs, newts, salamanders, water snakesand turtles. Most interesting collections can be made of animals whichlive in harmony with each other and such added which will serve them asfood. 331 TERRARIA AND AQUA-TERRARIA Aqua-Terraria. These receptacles combine the aquarium and theterrarium, their purpose being the growing of aquatic and semi-aquaticplants and the maintenance of aquatic and amphibious animals in sur-roundings nearest to those of their natural habitats, that the adults as wellas the larvae and young may be kept for observation and study.
