Description
English: Obverse = Christ standing before a low throne, his right hand raised in blessing, a book in his left. Sigla at left and right: "Ἰ(ησοῦ)ς Χ(ριστό)ς" (Jesus Christ). Phi in left field. Border of dots. Reverse = Emperor John VIII with a cross–sceptre in his right hand and an akakia in his left. Inscription in two columns; "Ἰω(άννης) ἐν Χ(ριστ)ῷ αὐτωκράτωρ ὁ Παλαιολόγος" (John in Christ, Autokrat, Palaiologos)
