Description |
English: 16th or 17th century gold "posy" finger ring. The simple D-sectioned hoop is inscribed around the outside with "I WOLDE GLADLI:". Diameter 19.44mm, width 3.72mm, thickness c.1.5mm, weight 3.81g. British Museum report (Judy Rudoe): "Gold posy ring (2005 T193) Date: 16th-17th century Description: Gold posy ring, inscribed on the exterior: I WOLDE . GLADLI . The inscription contains tiny traces of black enamel. Discussion: For parallels in BM see Dalton 1302 and 148, both of which have short capital letter inscriptions on exterior. This inscription on T193 is not recorded by Joan Evans." |
