Title
Gold earring component, 2009T588
Description
English: Gold Roman ear-ring component, consisting of a rectangular sheet gold box setting with a flanged border. The setting would originally have held a piece of glass or stone but this is now missing, as is the attachment hook which would originally have been soldered to the back. The flange of the box is decorated with a series of chevrons which run all the way around the border. Although from the reverse side the setting appears to resemble a human face, this is likely to be coincidental.
