WOEK DEPARTMENT. 595 The model from which we give this descrip-tion has a raised appearance as if wadded.This is accomplished by bringing the needleright under in the centre of the precedingstitch, the stitch being of the same descriptionas the one in which the old Gobelins tapestrywas worked, and which is now becoming veryfashionable. The color of the grounding for this slipper may of course be left to the taste of the worker ;but we would suggest a bright sky-blue or apale shade of green, as being the most suitablecontrast to the brown skin of the tiger. In anycase the grounding should not be of a darkcolor, as the effect of the work would be en-tirely spoiled ; the tigers skin, being somewhatrich and heavy, requires a light shade to throwit up nicely. « ♦ * • > BRAIDING PATTERNS,
