Now pass the silk round the line markeda; take the end of the silk, pass it under thepart which is passed round, and fasten it at 14.Then carry the silk down to b, keeping thethumb pressed upon the silk to keep it in Itsplace, and pass the silk round the line 6, fast-ening as before, and continue to pass the silkround and fastening it till the whole of thelines from a to g are covered. To form the rosettes, take a piece of silk, onwhich thread a bead, make a slip-knot, andbring the bead in the centre, leaving the loopand short end; then pass the needle under thecentre of one of the stars where the silk iscrossed, 8 times, pass the needle through theloop, holding the short end down, and pull theknot tight; then commence working round bypassing the needle round one thread of silkand under the second ; then pass it round thesecond and under the third; repeat this ninetimes, and fasten off by passing the needle upone of the ribs, but do not cut the silk off closeuntil the purse is taken off the card. The halfrosettes which are at the top and bottom of thepurse are worked in the same way, only insteadof being round are worked backwards and for-wards and without a bead. When finished,slip the purse carefully off the card, and takehold of a bead and slip the silk down so as tomake the rosettes stand up in little points.When they are all done in this manner, cut offall the
