English: Ancient Godavari Shiva Temple located in Godavari Municipality Ward No. 4 of Kailali District.This ancient Shiva temple is situated on the left bank of the river Godavari on the left side of the highway from Ataria in Kailali district to Dadeldhura, Baitadi. As it is situated on the banks of river Godavari, the name of this temple is Godavari Shiva Temple. The sanctum sanctorum of this white peak style temple has a very attractive 10 inch tall Shivalinga of black stone. Around Shivalinga, there are idols of Hanuman, idols of Ganesha and idols of Kartikeya. Nepali Hindus in this Shiva temple During the Maghe Sankranti festival, devotees gather and a fair is also held. Legend has it that the origin of this Shivaji is that every time a fisherman casts a net in the river Godavari for fishing, the same Shivalinga falls into the net, so these Shivalingas have been established in this place. The site of this Shiva temple is also called Tirthasthal as there are various other temples and monasteries. The locals perform bratavandha, marriage and other poojas at this place of pilgrimage and also play forest picnics in the forest for fun.
