Family: Verbenaceae Distribution: Common in scrub jungles, Limited to Peninsular India and Bangladesh. Armed shrubs, 1.5-2mts tall, Leaves elliptic, ovate, entire, base acute, Flowers 2 to 2.5 cm across, golden yellow, in axillary or terminal 3-6cm long racemes. Drupes ovoid, yellow when ripe. Ripe fruits are used to remove dandruf. Leaves and fruits are used for antimicrobial activity. Used for amoebiasis and gastric problems and skin problems also.
