The church dates from the late 11th century onwards, and is built of ironstone and limestone with slate roof. There is a west tower, nave and chancel in one, with a south porch. The tower is late 11th century with a 14th century west window, there is also a small round headed 11th century window above. The tower was restored in the 19th century. The east side has earlier roofline visible beneath the Bell opening and clock. The nave has 19th century windows, the chancel was rebuilt in the late 16th century (to take the Wray monument). The south side of the chancel has a blocked opening to the east and a small 12th century doorway to the west. The tower arch is 11th century with round head, the chancel arch is 13th century. Inside there are 19th century pews, lectern, pulpit and altar rail. The font is 20th century. The large monument to Sir Christopher Wray is on the north side of the chancel. There is also a large white marble monument to Elizabeth Saunderson. The church was restored in the 19th and 20th Centuries.
