Summary
[edit]DescriptionGlendalough round tower - geograph.org.uk - 1545588.jpg |
English: Glendalough round tower The tower dates from the 10th and 12th centuries. It is some 103 ft (31 metres) high. It was used as a bell tower to call pilgrims from afar. It was also used to hide in when the area was under attack . Tthe door is therefore about a third of the way up the tower and was reached by a ladder that could be pulled up to stop others entering. |
