Summary
[edit]DescriptionGlencairn's Greit House in the High Street - geograph.org.uk - 1078552.jpg |
English: Glencairn's Greit House in the High Street. Glencairn's Greit House is the tall stone building just to the left of centre. It is Dumbarton's oldest standing building, and its third-oldest structure (as explained here: 1068140).
This photograph shows the house in its context on the High Street; when this picture was taken, Glencairn Greit House was occupied by Dumbarton Credit Union. The neighbouring Woolworths store had traded in Dumbarton for 86 years, but was set to disappear forever (a final clearance sale began the day before this picture was taken). The neighbouring building on the other side was occupied by "Hair and Nail Designers". |
