Summary

English: Glas-allt-Shiel, Loch Muick Situated on the shore of Loch Muick within the Queen's estate at Balmoral this lodge was built in 1860 by Queen Victoria. During her widowhood she spent much time here as a recluse and it is still occasionally used by the Royal Family. A short distance up the burn at the rear is a scenic waterfall, a favourite Royal picnic spot. Also a popular route to climb Lochnagar. It is referred to as a 'cottage' in Royal writings. Some cottage! |
