Dansk: Illustration af Poul Steffensen til Carit Etlars roman Gjøngehøvdingen, der foregår under den Første Karl Gustav-krig i 1657-58. En fisker, gøngehøvdingen Svend Poulsen og Ib Abelsøn går over isen i Køge Bugt om natten for at undgå de svenske tropper. De er på vej til København med penge, der er gemt i den døde kronhjort på slæden. Svend Poulsen (ca. 1610 - ca. 1679) var en virkelig person, men historien er fiktion. Svend Poulsens udseende er også fantasi, for der kendes ingen portrætter af ham.
English: Illustration by Poul Steffensen from the Danish novel Gjøngehøvdingen by Carit Etlar which takes place during the Dano-Swedish War in 1657-58. A fisherman, Svend Poulsen, Gøngehøvdingen, and Ib Abelsøn walks over the ice in Køge Bugt during the night to avoid the Swedish troops. They are heading for Copenhagen with money hidden i the dead red deer on the sleigh. Svend Poulsen (app. 1610 - app. 1679) was real a person but the story is fiction. The look of Svend Poulsen is also fantasy as there is no known portraits of him.
