During the Siege of Warsaw by Swedish-Brandenburgian forces in 1656 it become a seat of King John Casimir. Repeatedly destroyed, it was rebuilt and redesigned in the neoclassical style in 1823-1825 by Antonio Corazzi (today Commission Palace).
