[edit]

English: Ivrea, Itali. 24th, May 2017. Giovanni De Gennaro (born July 21st 1992). Began to practice when i was 8, putting himself on show at the K1 Boys and Junior by winning 4 Italian titles, plus team titles, taking part in World Championships and European Championships. He won the European Junior Team title in 2009 at Liptosky (SVK) and in 2010, at age of 18, he graduated Junior Champion at Foix (FRA). In 2011 at the age of 19 he is already member of the national team and took part in the World Cup, won the bronze team in the Senior World Championship in Bratislava (SVK).Playing the qualyfing for London 2012, thanks to the excellent results in the Cup, with Daniele Molmenti (who will win the Olympic title) and his brother Riccardo. In addition to that he joining the State Forestry Corps in 2013, won the bronze medal at U23 World Championships, the 7th place in the world championship and the absolute world title with Molmenti and Romeo in Prague (CZE). The following year, despite a peculiar problem in qualifying, he won silver at the Australian U23 World Championship and for the second consecutive year he finished the World Finals with 6th place in the world at Deep Creek in America. In 2015, last year in the U23, the goal was to qualify for the Rio Olympics, but the 12th place relegates it out of the final where instead qualifies Daniele Molmenti takes the advantage in qualifying for the next year. Giovanni's 2016 went great with the first win (and podium) in the world cup in Ivrea, right in front of Molmenti, showing a state of exceptional fitness that will lead him to conquer the PASS Olympic to European Slovaks. In Rio, after qualifying at 9th time to the final, unfortunately, the medal dream breaks into the final run at gate 5, closing his first Olympics at 7th place. Season closed with the silver medal in C2 with Roberto Colazingari at the absolute 2017’s Italian championships and marks its start in the Carabinieri Sports Group.(from Wikipedia 18/05/17)Damiano Benedetto/ Staff Photographer
