| Description |
English: Gilminscroft railway branch, Auchinleck In the right background is the pile of Auchinleck Academy. In the foreground, running close to and parallel with the B705 road, is the former Gilminscroft branch of the Glasgow & South Western Railway, climbing northwards away from Auchinleck to serve four old coal pits. The railway probably closed before the 1939-45 war but its course has been rejuvenated as an access path into the Glenshamrock community woodlands note the waymarker posts either side of the route. Trees and bushes, some specially planted, are already springing up alongside. |
