Description |
English: Gilded silver D-shaped buckle. The outer edge of the frame slopes outwards at the base, at an angle of c.45°, giving the buckle a horse-hoof-like appearance. The frame is roughly rectangular in section. The sides and outer edge of the frame are decorated with eight sub-square projections held within a recess. There is a slight notch to take the pin on the top of the outer edge of the frame. Narrowed and recessed sub-circular sectioned pin bar. Freely moving cast silver pin which is bent downwards at the tip. There are traces of gilding on the obverse of the loop and on the pin. Probably 12th or 13th century. Length 18.78mm, width 22.48mm, thickness 7.50mm, weight 7.37g. |
