English: Gigantic sirens warn Paris of German Air Raids June 1918 CAption: "No fewer than twenty-six gigantic sirens are being placed on high buildings and towers throughout Paris to warn the people of German air raids. These are so powerful that they can be heard all over the city and when they begin the populace seeks safety of cellars. This siren is on the tower of Notre Dame and it can be heard for 1,500 meters. "
