English: Giant's Grave Henning Hill. This view is the opposite view to Jim Champion's photo for the same object 26251. Looking north instead of south and in late spring instead of winter. The pillow mound barrow here marked by the group of trees on the hillside is reputed to be the grave of a giant who died after losing a contest of 'throw the stone the furthest'. The two stones of the giant and the other contestant lie nearby. When a cock crows, the stones can move. |
