Description A obelisk at Ghum serves as a merorial to the hundreds of Gurkha soldiers who laid down their lives for their country. Ghum is also summit of the Darjeeling Himalayan train line and is the highest station in India. A museum is located on the first floor of the station building with larger exhibits in the old goods yard. These were of course closed as it was too early in the morning.Once this was the railway station at highest altitude overall and is the highest altitude station for narrow gauge railway. (May 2009)
