Deutsch: Der lila Trichter ist das Gravitationspotential eines Körpers in seinem Zentrum. Allgemein gibt das Gefälle eines Potentials die Feldstärke eines Kraftfeldes an, hier die Fallbeschleunigung = Feldstärke des Gravitationsfeldes. Die rote Ebene hat das gleiche Gefälle wie der Trichter am Ort der blauen Kugel. Mit ihrem konstanten Gefälle ist die rote Ebene das Potential eines fiktiven homogenen Feldes, in dem frei fallende Probemassen konstante gegenseitige Abstände haben könnten. Die schwarze Fläche stellt die Differenz der beiden Potentiale dar. Es handelt sich um das Gezeitenpotential. Ein auf dieser Potentialfläche verteilter Schwarm von Probemassen wird verzerrt: Die Gezeitenbeschleunigung führt Probemassen, die sich weiter innen oder weiter außen befinden, von der blauen Kugel fort; jene dagegen, die neben ihr fallen, zu ihr hin. |
