English: Portrait of Caroline Ulrike Amalie von Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld (1753-1829), daughter of Ernest Frederick of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld.
"Caroline (1753-1829), depicted here with a pearl necklace and sapphires in her hair, was the daughter of Ernest Frederick, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld. In 1795, she became dechantin (deaconess) of Gandersheim Abbey, Germany. The abbey was a community of unmarried daughters from noble families, who were not under religious vows." [1]
