Those of you who have been fortunate enough tohave visited the Hawaiian Islands as a tourist mayremember the remarkable berry served at the VolcanoHouse, the most extraordinary raspberry you had evtrseen. It was the strawberry-rasoberry. native toHawaii and other islands of the South Seas, long adelicacy of the natives. You wondered wliy Califor-nia, with her wide range of climate and soils, had notmade it a commercial headliner. Well, she will prob-ably not disappoint you. The Rastrawberry. from all appearances, is a crossbetween the strawberry and the raspberry, if sucha cross were possible. The foliage resembles thatof the raspberry, while the vine, or bush, forms likethe strawberry. The fruit is about one-inch in di-ameter, dark red. not unlike the rasnberry, exceptm its solidity. The flavor is that of the raspberry,and far more pleasing the second day after picking. The Rastrawberry attains the height of about eight-een inches.
