Deutsch: Der Löwe wurde 1953 als Mahnmal für die Gefallenen vom Gerlinger Ehrenbürger, dem Bildhauer Prof. Fritz von Graevenitz, auf dem Schlossberg über Gerlingen errichtet. Der Löwe verkörpert Kraft und Mut, er soll mit seinem Schrei alle Menschen weit im Land zur Vernunft mahnen.
Am Sockel des Löwen wurde eine Ode von Friedrich Schiller angebracht: English: The Lion of Gerlingen was created 1953 by the honory citizen of Gerlingen, the German sculptor Prof. Fritz von Graevenitz, in commemoration of the war victims. The sculpture stands on the Schlossberg in Gerlingen. |
