| Description |
English: Gerard Bros. soap works, April 1967 Seen from the foot crossing over the Nottingham-Mansfield-Worksop railway line, just north of the present footbridge. The gate and the diagonal-paling fencing are the genuine Midland Railway articles, dating from the opening of the line. With a tannery a hundred yards or so to the right and Lindley & Lindley's not far away, this was a malodorous part of the world. This is one of the few colour photos I took in the 1960s - it was too expensive for a student. |
