Description
English: Staff Sgt. Paul A. Kellman receives a coin of excellence from the Georgia Army National Guard’s state command sergeant major, Command Sgt. Maj. Phillip Stringfield, for his participation and win in the Metter, Ga., "Spring into Health 5K" Saturday morning, with organizers of the mini-marathon. Kellman, who sheepishly claims to "hate running," was surprised by the organizers of the race, who brought the podium to him when he couldn’t take his place in the center of the winners’ stand. The 265th Support Group (Regional) command sergeant major, Command Sgt. Maj. Joe Jimmerson (background), was more than willing to fete the warehouse noncommissioned officer. “Our sole purpose as a ready force is in support of those we work, live and serve with,” Jimmerson said. “When you have citizen-Soldiers who are willing to go the extra mile, we are not supporting that commitment if we do not show our willingness to tow the line right beside them.” (Georgia Army National Guard photo by Staff Sgt. Tracy J. Smith)
