FLOWER SEEDS. 95 CARNATION. In the splendid strains of Carnation flowers will be perfectly double, nearly all which we offer, a remarkably large percentage of the being more or less double. In the Southern States, the Carnation rarely needs protection of any sort, although it is well to cover during extremely cold weather. Half-hardv perennial. Height, H feet. Fine Mixed, per pkt 10 cts. MARGUERITE.—A new race of Carnation introduced from Italy a few years ago and exceedingly inter- esting from the fact that, unlike the old variety, the plant begins bloom- ing about four months from the time the seed is sown. It is perhaps less beautiful in color than the other, but is deliciously fragrant, of tine size and an abundant bloomer. By consecutive sowing, and shelter dur- ing the winter, it is possible to have the Marguerite Carnation in flower practically the whole year. 'Per pkt. 25'cts. COLEUS. The use of Coleus in ribbon gar- dening, massing, etc., is too familiar to call for any suggestion, and it is among the most easily cultivated of our plants. Especial attention is directed to our stock of this seed, as it is a mixture of superb hybrid varieties and will produce foliage of the most beautiful marks and stain- ings. The seed should be sown very carefully in a box of fine earth, excess of moisture being avoided. Tender perennial. Selected strains, per pkt. 25 cts. CHRYSANTHEMUMS. Although not comparable to the superb autumn flowering varieties, the double annual Chiysanthemum is very useful both in the garden and as a house plant; the flowers are borne freely all through the summer and work very well into bouquets and designs. Hardy annual. Height, 1 foot. "Double, 5 cts. per pkt. SINGLE. —The famous "Mar- guerite,'- known also as the " Paris Daisy " on account of its use in the public gardens of Paris ; its white and gold stars are well known every- where. Hardy perennial. Height, H feet. 5 cts' per pkt. COLLINSIA. A native of California which is remarkably attractive in beds of mixed borders. The flowers are borne in whorls and produced in great abundance, with a number of whorls around each flower stem. Hardy annual. Height, 1 toot. 5 cts. per pkt.
