George J. Danz (1873-?) was born in New York City. Danz started his career in the railroad business, but moved to the steel business when he started managing a railroad supply, general iron, and steel operation for W.D. Hofius & Company in Seattle. He later became president of this organization, as well as director of the Bank for Savings in Seattle. He was married to Miss Olga Ellen Newlands with whom he had five children.
