Texas State Historical Survey Committee 112 East 18th Street Austin, Texas May 24, 1963 Mr. Kittridge A. Wing, Superintendent Gettysburg National Military Park Gettysburg, Pennsylvania Dear Mr. Wing: We greatly appreciate you and Martin R. Conway’s letters and assistance with the proposal for a Texas memorial at Gettysburg. In reference to a location we have two proposals for your consideration: (1) The west side of Emmitsburg Road on a line directly west of Big Round Top (2) On the road between Devil’s Den and Big Round Top (or is this location considered a part of Union Avenue?) Enclosed is the form for granting the State of Texas permission to erect the Memorial. We need this as soon as possible in order to proceed on this end. Also enclosed is a copy of the design.
