Description

Located under an entire city block is a two-level basement that was once a hideout for George "Bugs" Moran, leader of the Irish North Side gang and enemy of Al Capone.

The space was used as a speakeasy and brothel. The second level of the basement contains a large swimming pool (the deep end of the pool is at the far end of this picture.) Kidnapped enemies were held here. Human hair and teeth were found in the walls, apparently victims who were hidden long ago. A wooden door that was removed had an election poster of Moran from when he ran for mayor of Chicago. Old elevator equipment that was used to lift bootleg booze barrels from floor to floor are still visible.
