; glabella small, tumid, very obtusely conical, only half thelength of the head-shield, and one-third its breadth, no short lateralfurrows visible, only the two small basal lobes which truncate theposterior angles of the glabella; axal-furrows inclosing the glabellaantero-laterally ; neck-lobe narrow, rounded distinctly, separated bythe neck-furrow from the glabella; eyes small, placed close to theglabella, prominent, reniform, surface smooth ; no facial suturevisible ; free-cheeks convex, confluent around the glabella, with abroad flattened slightly concave margin, the rim of which is slightlyraised; posterior margin of free-cheeks separated by a furrow con-tinuous with the neck-furrow; the posterior angles of the headproduced into short slightly recurved spines; entire surface of headcovered with small bead-like tubercles, five larger ones being placedaround the front border of the glabella, and one in advance of eacheye on the free-cheeks. Pygidium circular, one-fourth wider than long, consisting ofseventeen coalesced somites, the axis forming one-third the entirebreadth of the shield where it joins the thorax, but diminishingrapidly to a rather blunt extremity at about one-fifth of its length,from the margin of the tail-shield, which encircles it ; eachring of the axis ornamented by a row of small granular tubercles(somewhat irregular in size); about eight grooved pleurae are seenon each side the axis, each pleura forming a raised rib, extendingto and becoming wider at its rounded extremity near the border,marked by a row of small tubercles, and having a shorter inter-mediate rib similarly ornamented, placed behind it, in the furrow;the pleurge, as well as the axis of the pygidium, are convex; themargin has a slight narrow rim around it.
