The workflow of Genome skimming from tissue samples to phylogenetic trees.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Starting from tissue samples, DNA is extracted and prepped for genome skimming. Genome skimming yields more reads for organelles genomes than nuclear genomes, leading to a more contiguous assembly for organelles, and a more fragmented assembly for the nuclear DNA. The organelles genomes and nuclear repeats resulting from genome skimming can be used to build phylogenetic trees and infer evolutionary histories.
