mundsen-Ellsivorth expeditions of1925 and 1926. Maps of the Polar Regionsshow the routes of various explorers and thepolar air flights. In a room at the left end of this corridoris the large Mainka seimograph for recordingearthquakes. This was presented to the NewYork Academy of Sciences by EmersonMcMillin, and recently donated to the Mu-seum by the Academy. Lindbergh Plane. Another exhibit of his-torical interest for scientific exploration, nowin the Hall of Ocean life (Index Plan, p. 16,First Floor, Hall 10), is the airplane flownby Charles and Anne Lindbergh north to the orient. This plane later took them byway of Greenland to Europe, thence downto Africa, across to Brazil, and up the At-lantic Coast to New York, a total distanceof 30,000 miles.
