English: General Kitchener and the Anglo-egyptian Nile Campaign, 1898
Captain Adolf von Tiedemann, German Military attach� and observer of the Campaign, poses in full dress uniform beside the River Nile after the Battle of Omdurman, during which Anglo Egyptian forces regained control of the city of Khartoum. Von Tiedemann accompanied Lord Kitchener when he travelled by boat to Khartoum for the ceremony to commemorate the death of General Gordon (who was killed when Khartoum fell to Mahdist forces on 26 January 1885).
